Q. What if I do not pass the playing ability portion of the course?

A. Provided that you have passed the written and teaching aspects of the course, you may within a 12 month period attend any diploma course and participate in the PAT. Cost £50 including green fee. You may also arrange to play anywhere with a qualified wgtf instructor. Cost £150 including green fee.

Q. What if I do not pass the written theory and or practical teaching test?

A. Provided that you have passed the Playing Ability Test, you may return to any certification course and redo the entire course excluding the PAT.

Q. What if I do not pass the written rules test?

A. This may be redone while on course.

Q. Do You Have A Seniors Division?

A. Yes, we do and we are very proud of the many members over the age 50 that are actively teaching and promoting the game.

Q. What is the difference between the WGTF and the PGA?

A. The WGTF and the PGA are separate companies. The PGA trains golfers to become professionals of golf clubs. The WGTF specialise in training you to be a golf coach.

Q. Do we recognise the PGA?

A. Like any other business we recognise our competition. However there is no governing body of golf in the UK, so it is not relevant whether either organisation recognises the other.

Q. What are the advantages the WGTF has over the PGA?

a. The WGTF relies on your maturity and on your possession of skills and talents evolved with experience.
b. Our residential course is 7 days not 15.
c. Our course is about teaching/coaching and therefore does not need 15 days. The PGA covers club repairs, retail management etc. d. It takes 7 days to obtain a qualification, not over three years
e. The cost of the tuition is under £1000, not over £15000.
f. No need for you to spend over three years working on low wages sitting in a shop most of the day.
g. The WGTF is dedicated to teaching/coaching only.

Q. Is it easy to earn a living on completion of the course?

A. Nothing worth having comes easy. When you qualify you will have all the resources necessary to be earning over £25k within a year. If you do not reach this initial target, we will be there to help and advise you.

Q. Will I receive courtesy on golf courses in the UK?

A. This is and always will be at the discretion of the golf club secretary. Always have your membership card with you. Show the appropriate respect combined with quality rapport and many golf clubs will offer you this concession.

Q. How can I best prepare for the course?

a. Send for our recommended book list
b. Practice to improve your own game
c. Come with enthusiasm and an open enquiring mind.

Q. When I qualify which competitions can I enter to win money?

A. You could enter the British open if you qualify, or any other open for that matter. There are various tours you can play. There are also senior tour events available. We have our own World Teachers Cup, five days of intense competition. The WGTF of Great Britain championship is held once a year in conjunction with our AGM.
